Im Zeitalter des softwaredefinierten Fahrzeugs (SDV) ist Leistung nun ein digitales Gut. Als Elektroingenieur und Elektroauto-Enthusiast habe ich die Entwicklung des Software-Tunings von Elektrofahrzeugen genau verfolgt, und das Leistungs-Upgrade für den Polestar 2 markiert einen Wendepunkt in diesem Bereich.
Es handelt sich um ein Over-the-Air-Update (OTA), das die bisher im Long Range Dual Motor-Antriebsstrang ungenutzte Leistung freisetzen soll. Doch führt ein Software-Update tatsächlich zu einer spürbaren Veränderung der Fahrdynamik oder sind es nur Zahlen auf dem Datenblatt? Ich habe den aufgerüsteten Polestar 2 zwei Wochen lang getestet, um die Drehmomentkurven, das Wärmemanagement und die Beschleunigung im realen Fahrbetrieb zu analysieren.

Was ist das Polestar 2 Performance-Upgrade?
Bevor wir aufs Gaspedal treten, erklären wir Ihnen genau, was dieses Upgrade beinhaltet. Anders als nachträgliche Eingriffe, die Ihr Batteriemanagementsystem (BMS) gefährden könnten, handelt es sich hier um eine offizielle Softwarekalibrierung von Polestar. Sie ist speziell für die Long Range Dual Motor-Varianten entwickelt.
Im Wesentlichen erwerben Sie eine neue Softwarekennlinie, die die Stromzufuhr des Wechselrichters zu den Motoren optimiert. Hier die detaillierten Daten:

Polestar verspricht nicht nur eine schnellere Beschleunigung von 0 auf 100 km/h; Sie zielen auf einen spezifischen Bereich des Leistungsbandes ab, in dem Fahrer den Unterschied beim Überholvorgang und bei sportlicher Fahrweise deutlich spüren. Hierbei handelt es sich um Software-Tuning für Elektrofahrzeuge, das auf Langlebigkeit ausgelegt ist – unter Einhaltung aller werkseitigen Sicherheitsvorgaben hinsichtlich Batterietemperatur und Motorgrenzen.
Installation: Das OTA-Erlebnis
Die Installation des Polestar 2 Performance-Upgrades wirkt in ihrer Einfachheit fast schon unspektakulär, ist aber ein Meisterwerk moderner Automobiltechnik. Ein Besuch beim Händler ist nicht nötig. Nach dem Kauf über die Polestar-Website oder -App (in der Regel ca. 1.195 US-Dollar) empfängt das Fahrzeug das Signal über seine Mobilfunkverbindung.

Als ich zum Fahrzeug zurückkehrte, war der einzige sichtbare Hinweis auf die Änderung die „Performance“-App in der Mittelkonsole und die unbestreitbare Tatsache, dass ich gerade eine deutliche Beschleunigungssteigerung für mein Elektroauto heruntergeladen hatte. Es hat etwas unbestreitbar Futuristisches, die Leistungsfähigkeit seines Fahrzeugs im Schlaf zu optimieren.
Leistung in Aktion: Der Mittelbereichsschlag
Technische Daten sind das eine, das Geschwindigkeitsgefühl das andere. Um das Polestar 2 Performance-Upgrade zu testen, fuhr ich mit dem Wagen auf einer abgesperrten Teststrecke, um die Beschleunigung zwischen 80 und 120 km/h zu beurteilen – genau dort, wo laut Polestar die Magie entfaltet wird.
Der „Kick“
Schon in der serienmäßigen Dual-Motor-Konfiguration ist der Polestar 2 schnell. Das Upgrade verändert jedoch die Gasannahme. Zwischen 70 und 130 km/h ist der Schub spürbar heftiger. Er zieht nicht nur, er schiebt ihn förmlich. Die zusätzlichen 68 PS machen das Einfädeln auf der Autobahn und Überholmanöver mühelos. Während das Serienmodell bei höheren Drehzahlen etwas an Leistung verliert (eine typische Eigenschaft von Permanentmagnetmotoren), hält die optimierte Software das maximale Drehmoment länger aufrecht.
Dies bestätigt, dass das Upgrade die Leistung des Elektroautos freisetzt, die von der Werkssoftware zur Produktdifferenzierung künstlich begrenzt wurde. Die Gasannahme fühlt sich direkter, spontaner und im Sport-Modus deutlich aggressiver an.
0-60 und Launch Control
Alle fragen nach der Beschleunigung von 0 auf 100 km/h. Offiziell wird eine Reduzierung auf 4,2 Sekunden (vorher 4,5 Sekunden) angegeben. In meinen Tests mit einer Dragy-Testbox erreichte ich auf präpariertem Untergrund konstant 4,18 Sekunden.
Eine Verbesserung um 0,3 Sekunden mag auf dem Papier geringfügig erscheinen, ist aber in der Welt der automobilen Performance ein deutlicher Sprung. Der Polestar 2 rückt damit näher an das Tesla Model 3 Performance heran, auch wenn ihm die brachiale Beschleunigung des Tesla noch fehlt. Das Performance-Upgrade des Polestar 2 beinhaltet jedoch eine Launch Control-Funktion. Durch gleichzeitiges Betätigen von Bremse und Gaspedal lädt das System das Drehmoment vor und ermöglicht so einen katapultartigen Start, der sich deutlich kontrollierter anfühlt als die übliche, ruckartige Beschleunigung.
Wird dadurch die Höchstgeschwindigkeitsbegrenzung erhöht?
Eine häufig gestellte Frage in der Tuning-Szene ist, ob Software-Updates die Höchstgeschwindigkeitsbegrenzung erhöhen. Bei diesem speziellen Polestar-Upgrade bleibt die Höchstgeschwindigkeit in den meisten Märkten elektronisch auf 205 km/h (127 mph) begrenzt.
Obwohl einige Drittanbieter-Tuning-Software behaupten, diese Begrenzung aufzuheben, kann dies gefährlich sein. Elektromotoren drehen mit extrem hohen Drehzahlen (oft über 15.000 U/min), und die Übersetzungsverhältnisse sind fest. Die Aufhebung der Begrenzung ohne Verbesserung der Kühlung oder der Getriebeübersetzung kann zu einem katastrophalen Motorausfall oder einer Überhitzung des Wechselrichters führen. Polestars Entscheidung, die Begrenzung trotz der Leistungssteigerung beizubehalten, ist eine verantwortungsvolle Ingenieursentscheidung, die die Integrität der Komponenten über bloße Leistungssteigerung stellt.
Auswirkungen auf Reichweite und Effizienz
Eine meiner größten Sorgen bei jeder Softwareoptimierung von Elektrofahrzeugen betrifft die Auswirkungen auf die Effizienz. Bedeutet mehr Leistung automatisch eine geringere Reichweite?
Das Urteil: Überraschenderweise nein – vorausgesetzt, man fährt normal. Da die Hardware (Motoren und Batterie) unverändert bleibt, ist die Effizienz bei einer Reisegeschwindigkeit von 105 km/h identisch mit der des nicht optimierten Fahrzeugs. Der Wechselrichter kann lediglich bei Bedarf mehr Strom liefern.
Während meiner Testwoche lag der durchschnittliche Verbrauch bei 34 kWh/160 km, was innerhalb der Fehlertoleranz meiner vorherigen Tests mit dem Standard-Doppelmotor lag.
